MONDAY SEPT 30 IS ORANGE SHIRT DAY

Guidance:
The Loran Scholar's Foundation is an award valued at approximately $100,000 over 4 years of undergraduate study. If you are interested in being nominated please see your guidance counselor or get an application form on the Student Services bulletin board. Deadline is October 7th.

On Tuesday October 1st, from 9:55am to 11:10 am Auburn Drive will host the “AARAO tour”.  The AARAO tour is when the Atlantic Association of Registrars and Admissions Officers for almost 50 post-secondary institutions visit the various high schools around the Atlantic provinces.   The AARAO tour allows students to explore many of their post-secondary options in our region.  The tour is open only to grade 12 students.  Students with family names from A-L will attend from 10am to 10:40am and students with family names from M-Z will attend from 10:40am to 11:10am.  Students are expected to be in class except when it is their turn to attend the tour.  Attendance will be taken during both B and A blocks.

Sports:
Girls Hockey is getting under way! Tryouts are this week. The last one is tonight from 4-5 pm at Scotia 1. All are welcome to try out.


School:
Yearbook training will take place Oct 15…2:30 pm in room 216. Remember to talk to your teachers please. Yearbook will meet today at lunch.
We Scare Hunger is Back! From Now until Nov 1 we will be collecting non-perishable food items and new toiletries (toothbrushes, feminine products, diapers, shaving stuff). Bring the items to your D block class to place in the box there. The Class with the most items will win a prize!


Picture retakes will be Nov 1.


second semester FLA 12 students must register for the DELF before Sept 30th. See Mr. Chiasson for more information. 


The Creative Gaming Club will meet at lunch today in room 305. Bring your collectible card games, role-playing games, or any other table top game you have! Chess boards are also available.

Speaking of Creative Gaming…we are having Aubcon’s first gaming night tonight at 6:30. There will be video games, board games, bring your decks for some Magic or Pokemon…there will be someone to play with.  6:30 pm -8:30 pm. $2 at the door. There will be a canteen so come prepared to play and eat!

We have a few tickets for WE day available. Please sign up in the main office. A draw will take place on Oct 9 to decide who gets the tickets.


Community:
The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) at the Cole Harbour Place Library is looking for new members!  The TAB group will meet regularly to have fun, eat food, and discuss your opinions on topics that affect youth.  If you are interested in learning more, please check out the informative meeting on Tuesday, September 24 @ 6:30pm at the CHP Library.  If unavailable to attend the first meeting but would like to be a part of the TAB, please reach out to Doreen Shea , Teen Services Assistant, by e-mail at sheado@halifax.ca or by phone at 902 490 3820.

Attention all youth aged 12-18…The Preston RCMP Stetsons and Spurs Youth Group is Recruiting! Wed Sept 25, 6:30 pm at North Preston Rec Centre and Thursday Sept 26, 6pm at the Black Cultural Centre. See the poster in Student Services for more information
