PINK WEEK THIS WEEK! WEAR PINK! BRING CHANGE!

Guidance:
Join Understorey Magazine and the Alexa McDonough Institute for Women, Gender and Social Justice for a two-day workshop on writing and publishing about the climate crisis. Work with authors, editors, journalists, and poets to learn the craft of writing, including journalism, memoir, essay, fiction, and poetry.  This is a free writing and publishing workshop for youth aged 14-19.  The session will take place on Saturday, October 26th & Sunday, October 27th from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm at Mount Saint Vincent University, McCain 105/105.  For more information, please see the poster in Student Services.


On Saturday, November 2nd, 2019 Saint Mary’s University will host a campus-wide Student Leadership Conference. This one-day event offers students the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions, engage in unique workshops and listen to presentations that will help to enhance their leadership skills and experiences.  The Student Leadership Conference is open to high school students intending to attend Saint Mary’s University or who are undecided for Fall 2020. The conference is free for high school students and includes lunch. Auburn Drive can recommend up to two students to attend this event.  If you would like to be considered for this Leadership Conference, please sign up in Student Services by TOMORROW.


If you are signed up for a university that is coming to Auburn transcipts will be automatically printed. You don`t need to order again.


Sports:
The Auburn boys hockey team opens their season tomorrow night, Tuesday at home against Citadel. Come out at 6:30 at CHP to support the Eagles. We were 1 goal away from a provincial championship last year. This year, the boys are taking it all. Come out and cheer them on.

There will be boys basketball tryouts Mon Tues and Wed this week from 8-10 in the gym. All are welcome to try out. Auburn will also have a JV team this year for extra opportunity to play.

Girls Basketball tryouts are Wed from 8-10 and Thurs 4-6. There will only be a varsity team this year.

Victory oh yes victory.  The Auburn boys soccer team has its roots in the bronze age.
What a game!!!  Penalty 3 minutes in to the game. Then 2 more goals. Losing 3-0.
Ryan Davis comes out of nets with 2 goals one from Liam Haley and another from Ben Bruce!!!!!  Sam, Dirk, Max and Travis all solid on the back line especially vs the special weapon.
Darian Slawter played big in nets for the second half with the clean sheet.
Congratulations boys!!! They will play ParkView in the provincial qualifier.


School:
A reminder that Youth of today will meet tomorrow at lunch.
Social Justice will be hosting Pink Week this week. Tuesday will be Pink Day, with a pink themed photo booth. Wednesday is Watermelon Wednesday, so we will be selling watermelon cups in the pit. Thursday, we will be selling pink lemonade in the pit. All the money raised for Breast Cancer research.

A note from Student council: let’s show our appreciation for our wonderful teachers and staff at Auburn and all they do for us! Student council will be placing an ‘appreciation box’ outside the council room where you can put positive messages about our teachers and other staff, ways they have helped or gone above and beyond to make our school better for you. Messages will be delivered on Fridays!


Picture retakes will take place Friday November 1st. Very important: sign up in the main office. Only those students who have signed up will have their photos taken.
