If you have received a scholarship AND you would like it to be published in the grad programme please drop off a copy of the offer to Ms. Johns in the main office prior to June 15th.

A reminder that tomorrow is the last day to submit scholarship applications for any internal scholarships. You can apply on line through our website to be considered for numerous offers that come our way to be distributed among the winning applicants.


The Ronald Edward David “Big Red” Award $500 was established in the memory of the late Mr. Ronald Edward David, “Big Red”.  One $500.00 award is available to a full-time student from the community of North Preston enrolled at any Post-Secondary institution who demonstrates commitment to community involvement.  Please submit essay and reference letter via email to raytiaturney@msn.com. The due date is May 31st, 2019.  Please see your school counsellor or the bulletin board in Student Services for more information.


Eastern College is hosting a career event at 6940 Mumford Road, Halifax on Wednesday, May 15th from 8am – 12pm and 1pm – 5pm. Dalhousie University is hosting two summer camps. One is the African Nova Scotian Health Sciences Summer Camp and the other is Plans Prep Institute. Applications for both camps are due by May 3rd, 2019. You can see the posters in Student Services for more information.


The Percy Dares Memorial Prizes have been established to commemorate the life of the late Percy Dares by awarding a prize to a graduating student in each high school in the Dartmouth region.  The aim of the prize is to promote the principles of community service and concern for one’s fellow members of society, as exemplified by the life of Percy Dares.  The amount of the prize for this year is $500.  Students applying should forward a letter setting out their community involvement and their plans for the coming year.  Please indicate your current high school and your address.  A transcript is not required.  Email applications to: percydaresprize@gmail.com by MAY 31, 2019.


The Department of National Defense is currently filling civilian positions in the Halifax Area.  DND will be hosting a Civilian Career Fair on Wednesday May 8th from 10:30am to 3pm at their Windsor Park site in Halifax (6393 Homefire Crescent, Halifax).  Visit the fair to discover Career opportunities and the benefits of choosing a civilian career with the Defense Team!


Sports:
TRACK: Sprint practice today from 6-8pm at Beazley Field and Sunday from 10-12. All other events, practice will be Friday after school.


BOYS SLOW PITCH: Sign up in the gym today and tomorrow. Practice will start next week.

Student Salute this week goes to Krista Morris-MacDonald, our youth health centre coordinator, for doing so much to help out and make our jack.org Masquerade Ball so amazing. Thanks for your tireless efforts!


Mr. Dalesandro’s extra help is cancelled for today. He will be offering it tomorrow at lunch.


The Co-Prez debate is happening today during B block after lunch. If you are attending it is with written permission of your B block teacher (forms are available from Ms. Elliott) and attendance will be taken at the debate.


Calling all Potterheads! Do you love Harry Potter? If so, make sure to attend the Potter Potluck! It will be taking place in Professor Elliott's room at lunch time on Wednesday, May 15. There is a sign-up sheet outside room 302 if you would like an invitation by owl. Be sure to bring a magical treat. Robes are optional.

Attention Gamers! We have a video game tournament happening TONIGHT from 6:30-9pm. It’s only $2 at the door to get in. There will be a canteen. We will be paying Smash, Jumpforce and others. Come and check it out.


Please wear red on TOMORROW to honor the missing and murdered indigenous women of Canada. - This Friday Auburn will be acknowledging the Indigenous women by creating red dresses and showing our love with wearing read."

On Friday Auburn Drive High will be participating in the Great Nova Scotia Pick-Me-Up. Over the course of the day various teachers will take classes out for some community clean up. The top 5 participating students in each class will be entered for a draw for gift cards to Tims, McDonald’s and Subway!


Congratulations to Auburn's Reach for the Top team who finished second in Nova Scotia at the provincial tournament in Truro this past Saturday. The team played great and lost an extremely close championship game. Great job, Eagles!
