  • Did you know? The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada was established in 2008 to investigate the Indian Residential School system and its impact on Indigenous Peoples in Canada. The TRC released its final report in 2015, which included 94 Calls to Action. These calls to action are actionable policy recommendations aimed at acknowledging the full history of the residential schools system and creating systems to prevent such abuses from ever happening again in the future.
  • A reminder that Yearbooks are on sale. Order yours via School Cash Online on the Auburn website!  The cost is $55 until December 20th and will increase to $60 in January. The deadline to order is March 22nd. No late payments will be accepted.
  • Are you looking for a rewarding social opportunity? Best Buddies is a program that aims to create a diverse student group for monthly social events, and create opportunities for students to form new friendships. If you are interested in becoming a Best Buddy, please join Mrs. Johnston and Nalani Phillips tomorrow at 12:15 in the Learning Centre to learn more about Best Buddies at Auburn.

  • Imhotep will take place tomorrow.
  • A GSA meeting will take place Thursday at lunch in the youth health center
  • Calling all French Immersion students! There will be a French hip-hop artist coming to do a performance at our school this Wednesday, October 18th in the afternoon and you are all invited. The French Immersion teachers will be giving you more information. If you do not have a French class this semester, please see Ms. Ans in room 201 for more information.
  • Chess club meets on Wednesdays at lunch in room 305. Boards are available or bring your own.
  • Student Salute goes to Mrs. Chambers for cleaning all of the dishes from teacher appreciation day!
  • Eagle of the Week goes to Hayden Brooks Arenburg for helping people open their lockers because their locks were stuck.
  • Congratulations to Lacey Frizzell who placed first at the NS Fall Skate Competition and earned a Gold medal. We’re so proud of you Lacey, keep up the good work!!

Sports

  • The Auburn Girls Hockey Home Opener vs the JL Ilsley Judges will take place at. 4pm onTuesday, Oct 17th at Cole Harbour Place, Scotia 1. Please come out and support the team!
  • The Auburn Boys Hockey Home Opener vs Citadel will take place later that evening at 6:30pm on Tuesday, October 17th at Cole Harbour Place, Scotia 1. Come out and support the team!

Community

  • Cole Harbour is opening a Community Fridge on Oct 21/23; behind the Cole Harbour Woodside United Church, at 15 Bissett Road.  Auburn is collecting dry goods donations between Oct 10 and 20th  for the grand opening. Donations can be left at the main office or in the Schools Plus room (Room 105).  Let's show our community how Auburn Eagles give back!
