Africentric Cohort

What is the Africentric Cohort?

The Africentric Cohort places African Nova Scotian students at the centre of their learning with a focus on mathematics and literacy.  This program encourages students to enroll in future academic courses.

To register for the Africentric Cohort students should speak to the School Counsellor who can provide the registration information.  If you have any additional questions or concerns please contact Auburn Drive High School by email at adhs@hrce.ca

  • Africentric Math
    • After three months in the Africentric Math Cohort, what do students say is making the greatest impact in their academic achievement?
    • According to these six students, it’s the learning experiences beyond the school walls, the relationships they have built with each other and their teachers – and the deep connections to their culture.
    • In this video, students describe their recent trip to the Black Brilliance Conference in Toronto, how they see themselves as learners and why this way of learning is working for them.
